Garden Greenhouse Project 2020

Finally...our seed starter greenhouse is a reality! This beauty is in our garden area and is already being put to use (after just three days, we saw plants sprouting in our small pots). Courtesy of our many previous projects, many of the supplies were already on hand so we kept our costs to about $350.00. Windows, sliders, concrete, fasteners, paint, interior shelving and some of the framing we didn't have to buy. The brick lining the floor is special to us. It's 113 year old antique soft brick, hand made the way it was done way back in the day. We dragged it out of the city with us a truck bed load at a time after saving it when we tore down and replaced our garage. The idea is for the brick to soak up heat during the day and slowly give it back through the night (It works!). And we have plenty more for other endeavors.

All four corners are cemented and PaKellzz in particular believes in overbuilding (all those years as a firefighter made me a believer in heavy timber for structural strength). Any wood that was purchased was either cedar or severe-weather-treated lumber for longevity. MaKellzz has a great eye for detail and a definite idea of what she wanted so much of the credit for the tweaks/changes along the way go to her. Sometimes it's just my job to provide the muscle and a good attitude (those of you who have been married more than five minutes know exactly what I mean lol). Another project down for team Kelley. When the budget permits, we'll get to that big greenhouse we both want. With the price of groceries forever climbing, that's one we increasingly look forward to.
