Cassava Wraps Grain Free Tortillas



Made with Cassava Flour these wraps or tortillas are very delicious. But...the flour is expensive, $7 plus per pound.

What is Cassava? —-pronounced (kah-sah-vuh) is also known as Yuca. Is has been a stable food around the world for a very long time. It is a sustainable root vegetable. It is grain free, gluten free, nut free and soy free. No additives, just 100% yuca root (Cassava)

We found two types of Cassava Flour at our local health food store.

The recipe for these wraps is right off the back of the package. Real easy to make. The brand we used; Otto’s Naturals, Cassava Flour.

Makes 5-6 Tortillas or Wraps


Ingredient:


3/4 cupCassava flour

1/4 tsp sea salt

2 Tbsp ‘ olive oil

1/3 cup warm water


Directions:


*Whisk together the flour and salt. Add the oil and warm water and knead until the dough is nice and smooth. The dough should not be dry or too wet and sticky

*Divide into 6 balls

*Roll each ball between two pieces of parchment pater until thin. Or use a tortilla press.

*Heat a drug skillet over medium high heat.

* Make sure skillet is heated properly first

* Place tortilla on skillet and wait for air bubbles to form, then flip. Each side should be slightly browned.

* Allow tortilla to cool for a few minutes before stacking on a plate , cover with towel, serve warm.
